Vintage Monday: Victorian Dandy

I've been doing a research into men's Victorian fashion lately because of book cover designs. I uncovered a wide variety of collar and neckwear styles--they range from cravats to bow ties. Vests--I should say waistcoats since we're talking British--were commonplace among upper and lower classes alike.

I've just started writing a new story too, where bow ties feature. So I give you this fine Victorian gentleman with s bow tie and beautiful mustache.

Monday Men: Sunday Afternoon

I found this photo at the flea market yesterday. It's a little fuzzy and time-worn but it also has great details from that Lucky Strike ad to the partial ice cream sign. You can even see inside the shop. I'm pretty sure that's two stacks of ice cream cones in the window. This must be an early 1900s photo.

Monday Men: Man with Cat

Just yesterday I discovered a Pinterest board: Tattoos and Kittens. Go check it out. I guarantee it'll make you go awwww.

He's a hottie, isn't he? The girls seem to think so.

Monday Men

I have fondness of old things, as the three vintage typewrites on my bookshelves attest. Collecting old photographs, especially snapshots is one of my hobbies. They absolutely fascinate me. That moment of time and place they preserve is like a single line ripped out of a narrative, full of subtext and potential.

So I decided to dig into my collection and use it to celebrate men. There will be no explicit content, because, sadly, I don't own any. Just plain old men, and not even gay. Although if your imagination runs away with you, dear blog reader, I can't stop you. In some cases it doesn't take much, like with these two goofballs:
