Hmm. Not sure I actually knew the real definition - it's one I'm pretty sure I've sussed out through context when reading.

Oh, I immediately think of Lord Peter Wimsey when I see the word piffle! Harriet Vane says to him: "If anybody does marry you it will be for the pleasure of hearing you talk piffle."
That's probably where I picked it up. Lord Peter does ramble on most charmingly. Sadly, I ran out of Lord Peter Wimsey audiobooks. The remaining audio recordings in the library are books on tape.
